How can you get a driver’s license in Turkey? Getting a driver’s license step by step

To change your driver’s license, you need to follow the steps below:

a) The application can be made to any civil registry office.

b) Information and documents that must be submitted during the application are determined by the General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs.

c) Those who will get a driver’s license, except for the education and examination condition specified in Article 41 of the Law No. 2918, not being convicted, age, education and health conditions in the same article are sought. However, without prejudice to the provisions of bilateral or multilateral agreements and practices, the written declaration that they meet the necessary conditions is taken as basis for foreigners with diplomatic exemption.

d) When necessary, examination and research can be done about the accuracy of the driver’s license through the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the Turkish foreign representatives.

f) Driver’s licenses obtained from countries that are not party to the Road Traffic Convention and do not have a bilateral agreement regarding mutual recognition and exchange of driver’s licenses cannot be replaced with Turkish driver’s licenses.

g) Driver’s licenses obtained by Turkish citizens from countries that are party to the Road Traffic Convention are replaced with their equivalent or equivalent driver’s licenses.
