Israel destroyed this village 190 times

Israel destroyed the Palestinian village of Arakib in the Najaf Desert in the south of the country for the 190th time. The first destruction in the village, where 22 families live, happened in 2010. Since then, the occupying forces have been raiding the village and destroying the houses. Villagers, on the other hand, are relentlessly rebuilding their wooden, plastic and tin houses after each demolition. “They will destroy it, we will rebuild it,” says village resident Aziz et-Turi.

The invading Israeli forces destroyed the Palestinian village of Arakib, located in the Najaf Desert in the south of the country, for the 190th time. But after each destruction, the villagers built houses of wood, plastic and tin. Some continued to live in tents they had set up. The first demolition was carried out in 2010 in the village where 22 Palestinian families live. Since then, the invaders have continued to raid the village regularly.

Aziz et-Turi, a member of the Arakib Defense Committee, one of the village residents, said in a statement: “The village was raided by the authorities. They destroyed all the houses. They dismantled tents made of nylon and plastic. We were left in the middle of the scorching heat. They are constantly trying to make us despair and frustration. We will not bow to all restrictions, lawsuits, prosecutions and crimes of destruction. They will destroy and we will rebuild. We are not going anywhere.”

Exists since the Ottoman State

The Zionist invaders claim that the village was “established illegally and should be demolished.” In the published reports, it was documented that the village was founded during the Ottoman State. The people of the village specifically stated that they do not intend to leave the lands inherited from their grandfathers.

There is no service

Israel, which does not provide compulsory services such as electricity and water to Arakib, as in other villages in the Najaf region, does not recognize the land ownership of the Palestinians living in the region. According to Palestinian sources, Israel has so far confiscated 11 million acres of the 12 million-acre Najaf Desert, where 220,000 Palestinians live.
